New Survey Says Elon Musk’s X Platform Is The Least Trustworthy Company In The Tech World

It looks like Elon Musk’s X app is staying true to its record of making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. This time around, it’s all thanks to a new survey.

Interestingly, the X corporation scored the lowest in terms of gaining users’ trust. It was rated the lowest in terms of reliability. Furthermore, users expressed how they would trust the government more than they would the platform. Yikes, not the best compliment to hear by miles.

A survey published in May spoke about how the All About Cookies company took on the task of including 1000 American adults in their study. They asked them questions related to the world of big tech and how much trust they had in it when compared to the local government. The results are in and we’re breaking them down for you below.

In terms of trust, it was tech giants Amazon and Google who topped the list. Meanwhile, the X app came in the end.

As per the data displayed in the survey, 70% of those who took part in this survey mentioned shared how much they trust Amazon most. Second place went to Google with 65% while third place went to Netflix with 64%. Moreover, just 29% spoke about taking the TikTok app as reliable because of its Chinese roots or ByteDance ownership.

Remember, American lawmakers have been calling out the platform for a while now. They feel it’s not doing enough in terms of combatting claims of sharing data with China. The app’s CEO rejected the accusations when asked to testify in front of Congress.

Hence, a new bill was passed and approved by President Biden. He mentioned that a limited amount of time was given to TikTok to divest and come under ownership which it has refused. Therefore, a national ban is predicted to come soon.

Only 28% voted in favor of X which was the lowest figure calculated in this study. The study mentioned how 43% of all respondents distrusted the government while 44% didn’t trust X.

For now, it’s not clear in the study what the reason for so much hate in the first place is. The app has been the center of controversy since the day Elon Musk took ownership. His rules and policies, not to mention harsh and controversial sayings, are called out by many.

Let’s not forget his never-ending abrupt layoffs that saw thousands lose their jobs, especially those who were a part of his trust and safety team. Then came the issues linked to misinformation after Musk made the purchase and transformed Twitter into X.

Figures grew and that made him roll out Community Notes two years back. Then a report launched last year from Bloomberg mentioned how 400 posts on X were analyzed featuring wrongful data. Misleading information about the Gaza war had people in shock and Community Notes were popping up after several hours.

So many leaders slammed Musk for his own content that they felt was misleading. This includes those tweets of an antisemitic nature.
