Despite the Widespread Popularity of ChatGPT, Not Many People Use It Regularly in the World

A new survey by YouGov for the Reuters institute for the Study of Journalism talked about how widespread the use of ChatGPT is. Generative AI has already set its claws on many platforms like Microsoft, Meta and Alphabet. But the survey says that even though generative AI is popular and is talked about widely, it isn’t directly proportional to its usage. The survey was conducted from March 2024 to April 2024 across six countries. The data found out that even the younger people ranging from 18 years to 24 years are not using OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Only 9% of them are using ChatGPT daily while 17% have used it just once or twice.

People older than 55 years are seldom using ChatGPT. 9% of them have used ChatGPT just once or twice since its release, 2% use it monthly, 3% use it weekly and only 1% of people above 55 use ChatGPT daily. 13% and 15% of other age groups have used ChatGPT once or twice. 8% of people between the age group of 35-44 years old use ChatGPT weekly while this trend is seen 6% in the age group 45-54 years old.

Nowadays, every big corporation is using AI, especially ChatGPT for work purposes. Microsoft and Apple have also partnered up with OpenAI and data from CB Insights suggests that OpenAI has now the market value of more than $80 billion and has become the world's third highest valued company. It is right after ByteDance that has a value of $225 billion and SpaceX having value of $150 billion.
